Meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, 21-23 September, 2003

Working alongside the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, the Commonwealth Health and Media Partnership had its first conference: hosted by the Voice of Nigeria ... It was here that senior media executives representing 14 African countries, stressed the need create a network of journalists throughout the developing world. They called for website and email network led by the Health and Media initiative.

Website and listserv called for:
Senior broadcasting executives attending the Health and Media Conference, from 21 radio and television stations and 14 African countries, called for a website and listserv to be used as a resource for African journalists, and journalists and the media in the developing Commonwealth.

The site and the listserv is now in operation, funded by the Commonwealth Media Development Fund and the Gates Malaria Partnership - with initial seed funding from the World Bank.

The website and listserv was created, developed and is now managed by the Commonwealth
Health and Media Partnership.
